GPSR Product Information and Labeling Guide
Organize verified product and economic-operator information before deciding where each item must appear.
The quick answer
A useful GPSR product-information record brings together the exact product identifier, manufacturer contact details, the relevant EU economic operator or responsible person, and verified warnings or safety information. The final physical placement is not always one universal sticker: applicable rules determine what belongs on the product, packaging, parcel or accompanying document.
Start with a traceable product identity
Use identifiers that connect the physical product to the documentation you retain: model, type, batch, serial number, SKU or another identifier appropriate to the product. Avoid changing naming conventions between your supplier file, marketplace listing and internal record without a clear mapping.
Record manufacturer and EU operator details separately
Keep the manufacturer name, registered trade name or trademark and contact details as a distinct record. Where Article 16 applies, record the EU-established economic operator responsible for the product as well.
Article 16 states that the responsible economic operator's name and contact details, including postal and electronic address, must be indicated on the product or on its packaging, parcel or accompanying document.
Do not assume one fixed label solves every case
The correct placement depends on the specific requirement. GPSR itself provides several possible locations for responsible-person information, while other product information duties and sector-specific EU legislation can have different placement rules.
That is why the free builder creates a structured content block rather than pretending to be a universal legally compliant sticker.
Use verified warning and safety text
Warnings should come from the product's actual safety requirements, not from generic examples. Language requirements depend on the Member State where the product is made available and on applicable product-specific rules.
For online offers, Article 19 also brings relevant warning and safety information into the distance-sale offer.
Build a reusable source-of-truth record
- Product name, type, model and identifiers
- Manufacturer contact details
- EU responsible-person or relevant economic-operator details where applicable
- Verified warnings and safety information
- Source document or evidence for each field
- Target markets and language versions
- Last review date
Then use that record to build the physical information and the online listing information. Use the GPSR Compliance Checklist to spot missing workflow steps.

Does all GPSR information have to appear on one label?
No. Placement varies by obligation and product-specific rules.
Can I use an old marketplace listing as the product record?
Use it only as a reference. Verify each field against current manufacturer, economic-operator and product-safety records.
