Product safety working checklist

Tick an item only after you have verified the underlying information or process for the actual product.

Keep identifiers consistent between the item, packaging, listing and supporting records where applicable.

Use current contact information for the actual manufacturer.

Record the name, postal address and electronic address.

Consider foreseeable use and relevant product-specific rules; keep evidence supporting the assessment.

Language requirements depend on the Member State where the product is made available.

Do not assume one universal label layout fits every product category.

This is part of the GPSR distance-sales information set.

Relevant when the manufacturer is not established in the EU.

Article 19 requires information allowing the product to be identified, including an image.

Use the required product-specific wording rather than generic invented warnings.

Keep records that support investigation, corrective action and cooperation with authorities.

Toys, electrical products, cosmetics and other categories can have separate requirements beyond GPSR.

A completed checklist is not a compliance certificate. The correct obligations depend on the product, economic-operator role, destination market and other EU legislation.

How to use this GPSR checklist

Treat the checklist as a workflow map: verify product identification and economic operators first, then safety information and physical placement, then the distance-sale listing and the records needed to maintain product safety after launch.

Start with the actual product

Generic templates are useful only after the product, manufacturer, intended use and foreseeable risks are correctly identified.

Check the online offer separately

GPSR has specific distance-sale duties. A compliant physical package does not automatically mean the online product offer contains all Article 19 information.

Keep evidence behind each tick

The valuable part of a checklist is the supporting record: verified contacts, risk assessment, warnings, product identifiers and the source used to determine applicable product-specific rules.
